Should i befriend this guy i like on facebook?

ok, so i know this guy frm my eng cl (in college). we havent talked much. usually we just talk during our group discussion and only abt the course. but today i tried talking to him and we talked a little.. but he dint seem that interested.. like i was asking him ques but he dint ask me anything. is he shy? i wanted to ask him for coffee after cl but he left very quickly. i m guessing that either he is shy or doesn't wanna make an extra effort to make new friends.. anyways,my ques is, shld i look him up on fb and befriend him and maybe ask him if he wants to have coffee sometime? my diliema is that i like him, but i don't wanna jump too ahead or seem too forward.. (cause, i skipped a few steps with my ex. and well, he's an ex now.) ( i think guys get scared off when the girl is too forward or confident)
