Where would be a good place to take a trip with kids, NC or GA?

I like to travel and every weekend Im always looking for somewhere to go thats not to far from me, due to the fact that I have to be back at work on Monday and the kids have to go to school. Im looking for some place to go this weekend thats either in North Carolina or Georgia. I have searched the internet and came up with nothing...What ever I do I have to make it fun for the kids. I really dont want to go to Atl because its to congested their. Maybe like Savannah or Augusta GA or Fayetteville NC. Any suggestions pls.
