What were the provisions of the Half-Way Covenant?

The Half-Way Covenant was a form of partial church membership created by New England Puritans. The Half-way Covenant provided the children of holders of the covenant with the privilege of baptism in the church(but not communion). For this encouraged individual congregations to baptize the infant children of church members but not to admit them to full membership until they were at least 14 years old and could profess conversion. Also according to the Half-Way Covenant, no man was permitted to partake of the Lord's Supper until he had certain knowledge and urance of salvation; without this knowledge, attendance at the sacrament was damning.
