Why do so many people convert to Islam?

a lot of ppl convert to "western" islam. Why would you do that when "orthadox" Islam (the real version, that follows the qu'ran" promotes violence so much? The western version is just watered down to remove the inconvinent parts... so does that make it a fake faith?
