Is child birth an labour different every time?

i gave birth to my 1st child 6yrs ago and it was the most horrendous experience iv ever encountered! felt like i was dying... literally! then with my 2nd it was painfull but nothing compared 2 my 1st and was really the best experience ever! i loved every second and would gladly give birth 100 times more going off that.i know 1st babies are like a trial 4 your body as its never done anything like it b4. im hopefully pregnant with my 3rd and jus wondering will it be as good as the 2nd time round or can it be just as unpredictable as my 1st as a friend said her 2nd time in labour was far worse than her 1st. x
